1×64 PLC + WDM Integrated Module: A Compact Solution for CATV Overlay in PON Networks

Introduction
As fiber access networks continue to expand, operators are facing increasing challenges in rack space utilization, fiber management, and deployment efficiency.
Traditional CATV overlay solutions on PON networks typically use separate FWDM devices, PLC splitters, and additional fiber patching structures. While this approach is flexible, it increases installation complexity and requires more rack space.
To address these challenges, Feiyi Optoelectronic developed a 1×64 PLC + WDM Integrated Module, combining signal separation and optical splitting functions into a single 1U rack-mounted solution.
Integrated Design for Simplified Deployment
The module integrates three key optical functions:
1. FWDM Signal Separation
The integrated FWDM separates:
- 1550nm CATV downstream signals
- 1310/1490nm IP data signals
This enables CATV overlay transmission over existing PON fiber infrastructure without additional fiber routes.
2. 1×64 PLC Splitting
The built-in PLC splitter provides:
- 1×64 optical splitting capability
- Low insertion loss on IP path
- Stable performance for high-density FTTx deployments
The COM to IP output path insertion loss is ≤0.8dB.
3. MPO/APC High-Density Interface
The MPO/APC output design helps:
- Reduce fiber patching complexity
- Improve installation efficiency
- Support high-density network environments
